Exit Polls on Bihar indicate a close fight between NDA and Grand Alliance

New Delhi: The combined exit polls of top channels  in the country has predicted that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will outshine Grand Alliance (Maha Gathbandhan) in Bihar Assembly Election on November 8.

The average drawn of exit poll predictions of Bihar Assembly Election of five news channels including ABP News, Aaj Tak, Times Now, News 24 and India TV showed BJP ahead of Grand Alliance.

However, three out of five prominent channels gave upper hand to Grand Alliance. According to ABP News exit polls, Mahagathbnadhan will get 130 seats whereas BJP will end up getting 108 out of 243 assembly seats. On the other hand, Times Now exit polls said Mahagathbandhan will garner 122 seats and NDA may end up with 111 seats in assembly election.

News 24 (known as Chanakya India polling ) gave Grand Alliance thumps down with merely 83 seats whereas they predicted NDA will have majority win with 155 seats out of 243 seats. However, Rajat Sharma-led  India TV predicted Grand Alliance to win in the assembly election , winning 122 seats out of 243 seats and NDA to end up on losing side with 111.

The BJP is banking heavily on Modi's appeal and the support of Bihar's upper castes -- Brahmins, Bhumihar, Rajputs -- and also hopes to gain the backing of other communities as a vote for development. Allied with the BJP are the Lok Janshakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan and the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party of Upendra Kushwaha -- both Union ministers -- and the Hindustani Awam Morcha of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.

The BJP contested 160 of the 243 Assembly seats, the LJP 40, the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party 23 and HAM 20 seats. The Grand Alliance includes Nitish's Janata Dal-United (JD-U), Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress. The grand Alliance is heavily relying on Nitish Kumar good governance. While the JD-U and the RJD contested 101 seats each, the Congress fought in 41 seats.

The five-phased poll ended on Thursday; the votes will be counted on Sunday morning.
